I have an 07 how do you know if it is a flex fuel or not? What happens if I use flex fuel in it?

Look for yellow gas cap. If it is not do not run it, software has to be able to adjust for fuel and the hardware needs to be able to handle the more corrosive ethanol.

Go to Ford's Fleet website and put in your VIN number. It will tell you if it's a Flex fuel vehicle. Also, I might be wrong, but, I think 06 was the last year they made a 5.4L (if that's what your engine is) that WASN'T capable of E85. BTW, unless you get a ridiculous discount on E85 vs regular unleaded don't bother. My truck gets 9mpg running E85.

If the 8th character in your VIN is a V, it's flex fuel, if it's a 5, it's not. The 5.4 didn't go to all flex fuel till 2009.

Fuel mileage sucks, I honestly thought the power was a little better. I do not know that it will help with the plugs, but its claimed to help the fuel system (injection). Here is a thread from way back when discussing power, it is a pretty good read.

You will lose about 30% gas mileage and you will have a small increase in power.

The BEST way to clean the carbon is with a Motorvac or BG intake cleaning machine. The next best way is to add Techron to the gas and go out and drive it hard.

If you run E85, it's recommended to change your oil more often and use real gas every 3rd tank.
