Learning about my 07 Mark LT Roush SC Spark Plugs
Learning about my 07 Mark LT Roush SC Spark Plugs
I bought a 2007 Lincoln Mark LT 4x4 with the Roush Stage II Supercharger already installed. It has 67k on it, and had 85 on it now. I had the transmission done with a 'high performance rebuild' that included a lot of parts I don't know about. Plus a Magnaflow exhaust system. It dynoed at 449.5ft/lb and 328.6hp on a SuperFlo WinDyn. I am pretty mechanically inclined. I would feel 100% confident installing the Roush System on my truck myself. It would take me a while but I could do it.
The Previous Owner had no idea of anything that was done to this truck so I have been learning through trial and error. I did get some records from the local Ford dealer saying one of the spark plugs was changed for a misfire, and the Roush PCM was sent in twice for a reflash, and 3rd time the customer refused for some reason.
It has developed a studder on the highway, while going about 75 or 80. Feels like a pretty solid predetonation, rather then a miss. It has gotten progressively worse untill this weekend we were driving through the Black Hills it would barely pull its self to 60 mph. I would feel it studder and I would let out of it. no cruise control.
I put some Lucas Octane Booster in it and for the next 50 or 60 miles to our cabin it all but got rid of it.
Fast forward 3 days, and the trip home. She was struggling, and I went about 50mph all the way home.
So last night, ignorantly I got out the socket set and yanked a plug!
THANKFULLY it came right out, and I was surprised to see this funky plug, so THEN i got to reading about the horror stories of 04 to 08 3v plugs!
Plus with the ammount of detonation I had I swore I would be pulling out melted, gone plugs. Not so......

SO. These are HT15, which by what I understand are one heat range HOTTER then factory, and in a SC application should be an HT0, plus should be gapped down to about a .03, where as these have a gap of about .055! Maybe I was just blowing out my spark under boost? It idles fine, starts fine, im getting about 21mpg on the highway (as per my calculations. Trip computer says like 30 or something)
Its raining, so Im going to go take the rest of the plugs out tomorow.
I bought a set of HT0 from Autozone for $100 bucks
an 8oz tub of super duper special nickel anti sieze from ford for $31 bucks! ouch!
Some GUNK carb cleaner to 'wick down and soften the carbon'
My air compressor to blow the dirt off, and an afternoon to do the work
To Be Continued.......
