Misfires: What could it be?
Truck is at 119k miles. In the past year it has misfired 3 times throwing codes (twice in the past month). The first two times were both on cylinder 3 on startup (it threw the code for first 1000 revs). Both of these times I figured it was bad gas (I always run Shell, but twice I had to put in cheaper gas because its all that was there when I needed fuel bad on trips and both misfires were after this). However the other day it happened on the highway. CEL came on, truck started vibrating violently when on the gas. 30 seconds later the CEL went off, it was smooth as butter again and has been since.
Plugs were changed at 103k and i put Champions in. I didn't replace the COPs. I've read that the worn COPs might not fit perfectly to the new champion plugs. Can this cause misfires? What should I look at next?
In other news, the truck is complete! 4.56 gears are here and getting installed in a couple days, that's the last mod woohoo!
