Check engine light help

Hey, I'm new to this forum and F-150's. I just upgraded last week to a 2006 F-150 FX4 screw 5.4L from my 2002 Ranger. So far everything has been great, until today. I got slowed down on an on-ramp getting onto the interstate due to an "wide load" semi so I had to tromp on it to get up to speed and in traffic. The check engine like came on (flashing). From what I have read this means a misfire. The like stopped after about a mile. I know there have been multiple threads about this and all have said spark plugs, COPS, or injectors. However most of these people recently went through water of some sort, I have not. So my question being first of all, is this most likely one of the problems? And second, I have a 30 day warranty from the dealer, this is something I should make them fix correct? But I'd have to drive almost 70 miles to get there. What is your opinions?

Thanks, Ryan

Get it scanned at autozone or somewhere local to you. If the codes are still latched in the computer then it would be worth it to make the drive. That way at least it is documented that it happened with the dealer you purchased from. I would ask them to restart your 30 day warranty if they simply clear the codes and don't actually replace the COP's and plugs for you. Hopefully they can reproduce it.
I would also make them take the driver side valve cover off( it's the easiest) or pull the VCT solenoid and gromet and prove that the motor does not have sludge. If it has sludge return it and get another unless they will warranty the motor for an extended period( 3-5 yrs ). Just my two cents. Luckily I read this forum before I purchased mine so I knew what I was in for when I purchased mine. I'm rebuilding my motor now but I had this discounted off the price.

It could be your throttle body and maf being dirty......they need to be cleaned.....there are threads on how to do this in the HOW TO'S AND ARTICLES section of the forum......those two this are pretty easy to clean.....cleaning them will eliminate them from the equation of why the light came on.....

88, the article (how to) for the throttle body cleaning is for the older 5.4 2V and could be confusing for someone not familiar with the 04 + 5.4L 3v. I may be wrong here, but someone might be looking for something that doesn't exist on the newer motors. No criticism meant, just an observation.

If you have a 30 day warranty from the dealer, then let them jack with it.

If you have the codes read DO NOT LET THEM ERASE ANYTHING!!!!. This your only proof of having an issue.

Good luck.

OK since the last post I had the code go off again. I had it read today and it is a P0301 cylinder #1 misfire. From threads on here it looks like it could be coils, plugs, injectors, or even the fuel pump. Im driving up to the dealership later this week to have them fix anything I can get away with lol. Hopefully its not as severe as one of the members on here that had the same code and ended up having to take the whole head off and clean/repair.

About 92,000. And I don't know about the plugs. I'm taking it to the dealership tomorrow so we will find out.
