Head Unit With Flip Down Face in in 2005 F-150
Hi,
I am replacing my factory head unit and am interested in the Kenwood kdc-x995. According to Crutchfield my 2005 Ford F-150 Supercrew won't take any units with a fold down face. I have searched through some of the older threads and saw pictures of Alpine units with a flip down face in the same year and model truck. I've called Crutchfield twice to see why this is and if there is a way around this and they just answer me with a by the book answer that it won't work. Anyone know why they are saying this and if I buy the unit will I have any problems with the install. Thanks.

That doesn't make any sense. I reused an Alpine CDA 9856 from my S-10 and purchased a new single-DIN opening w/ pocket at the bottom dash kit and it worked fine. I believe it was Metra and don't recall modifying it to work.
Sorry no pics as that was 4 yrs ago. Any reason why you're looking at single-DIN vs double? Crutchfield has the X995 for $330. I know Bankrpt has a Pioneer Avic X910 w/ bluetooth and navigation for $450 - I'd assume w/ harness and dash kit.
