6 disc changer, everything is a "bad disc"

Help please!!! I don't know what's up with my 6 disc indash. Every disc, regardless if it's burnt or an original cd get's kicked out with a "bad disc" error. No matter what slot I choose none of them are read. Any ideas? Has this happened to anyone before?

Thanks in advance!

Jim

The 6 disc changer needs to be lit on fire then buried 6' under.

It's a pretty common problem for them to just up and quit reading discs.

Dos,

Is it the Audiophile set-up? I was considering putting one of those in my '08 SuperCab STX but a guy told me the factory single-disc has an amp built-in, while the Audiophile 6-disc does not. And if I were to put the Audiophile in, what besides the rear set amplifier would I need to make the system stock, and indeed, work? Thanks.

I believe the amp is seperate but someone can probably confirm. I had a single disk and plugged in my current 6 disc audiophile changer. Just plug and play. I don't believe it matters if they came with the special system or not, as it is just an additional harness that plugs into the back if you have it.

I do believe that is correct.

I've had a 6 disc and a single disc in my truck also.

Thanks Matt and Jam,

I had a guy at Warford Auto in Memphis tell me the 6-disc would work without the amp, it would just be super quiet to the point of not being able to hear it at all at cruising speeds.

Just curious Dos, how much would you want, in case my rich uncle gets outta the poor house?
