80,000 mi.????
80,000 mi.????
so my 08's bout to hit 80,000 mi. i wont be driving it for next 3 months, but when i get back in oct. im puttin a 6" lift 35's and doin new exhaust and cai, and programmer. what all should i do to make sure my truck last fr as long as possible? as in doin plugs and wires and all that stuff? i just bought it in beginnin of june.
to keep the trucking running, keeping up on the maintenance is a must.

Synthetic oil
a good oil filter
Air filter
Plugs
Battery
Fuel Pump Driver Module
Basically, pull out your owner's book and where it says maintenance schedule, follow it to the best of your ability.

Mine just hit 80k and I did all the above plus:
- front differential
- Transfer case fluid
- MAF clean (normally do every other oil change)
- Changed serpentine belt
- COPs
- and while I did the trans fluid change I added an inline magnetic filter on the return side.

ok awesome thanks guys that exactly wat i was wonderin as far as maintanence. all this i can diy? and do u guys suggest any certain brands and wat not to use i plan on havn this truck for atleast next 15 yrs and then rebuild engine and give to my son for his first truck.
^^^ or instead of a bigger trans cooler you could add fans to your existing cooler...just an alternative.
To OP: Yes everything is a DIY and there are a ton of guides for certain things like trans, plugs and Fuel Pump Driver Module. BTW if you haven't checked your Fuel Pump Driver Module that might be the first thing you look at. Do a search on the forums and you will find out why.

I would recommend having a dealer doing the transmission fluid exchange on an exchange machine. I recommend an exchange rather than a flush. Others will tell you it doesn't matter, but i don't like the idea of using flushing detergents in my transmission.
Other than that, most of those things are very simple.

...or you could do it yourself and save a ton of money and drop the pan, clean the magnet and install a filter which any dealership would charge you an arm and leg:
