Where to buy replacement CV Axle

One of my CV axles is junk and I need to replace it. I checked on RockAuto and they have OEM parts for $255, and a bunch of much cheaper alternatives. New Cardone parts (which I assume is a low quality foreign alternative) for $55. Remanufactured parts from Cardone for $47 plus a $75 core. Does that mean its an OEM part that they replace the u-joints on? Anybody have experience with any of the less expensive alternatives?

Thanks

Tasca has one for $250 and at one point were selling to members on here at 10% above cost, not sure if thats still going on, contact tascajosh. As far as other cv joints go, I broke one in my 03 and had it replaced for $90, unfortunately I do not know the brand, but I never had any trouble out of it. I suspect it was just the "house" brand from a local parts store like advance, autozone, parks, etc.

I've heard that the remans from O'Reilly's are good.

Too much coffee the other day. By junk do you mean the boot was ripped? I had a boot rip and put a new boot back on. The joint checked out ok and didn't have any water inside of it or dirt so I figured it was do-able. This was last winter and so far soo good with my joint.

If your joint is trash and you never really use 4x4 I could see a cheaper joint working in a pinch. Though you never know...

The boot is torn and all the grease was flung out. At full drop there is alot of resistance to turn the wheel, so I think the joint is damaged. For the cost of a reman part its cheap enough to just replace the whole thing.
