I have an 04 with very close to 170k and i bought it new and have taken care of it immaculately. The leather and all other interior pieces still look very close to new and mechanically i have had VERY few problems. The biggest headache i had was when all four window regulators went out within minutes of each other...in the middle of August in Florida...while i was goimg to court and therefore in a suit (im a lawyer so court wasnt the issue).

As with all used vehicles, it lays to know what to look for and this site will be very valuable for you to know exactly what to look for. Of course, there are always exceptions, but the mileage wouldnt be a deal breaker for me as long as the truck has been taken care of the correct way and not abused off road. Good luck.
This one has new shocks and nitto's so the owners claims you cant even tell it is lifted by the way it drives. On problem is that the sunroof motor is out so that will need to be replaced. How much did all the windows cost?

Thanks I hope that it has been taken care of well

Tranny problems, sunroof not working, 6" lift for more wear and tear on the engine and everything else, 120k, etc. Listen to mom and dad and don't buy with emotion. The seller is just going to tell you what you want to hear - the tranny was all the dealer's fault, was only driven to the race on Sunday's, never off-road, you can't even tell it's lifted, etc.

Well my parents havent told me that yet and my dad is checking all the history on it and its clean so.....

Sunroof motors go out even in the all the BMW's we have had, common problem. He never said he drove it to racedays only, if he did that there wouldnt be that many miles on it.

I will be able to tell if its be abused offroad, but all cars have been offroad, i have taken my dads tacoma and moms suv but never ABUSED them.

And actually, there are some lifts that offer a smooth ride, which were his exact words

No dog in this fight at all, but you came here asking for opinions. You got some that you didnt like and are now trying to justify your position on this high mileage truck. Its your money, or at least not my money, so get whatever you like. At the end of the day its your truck.

I did tons of research and bought a truck with 78k miles outfitted exactly as I wanted, and I am already having trans problems (81k on the clock). Used vehicles are a crap shoot.

Yep my dad used to flip cars alot so he is checking this one out before going to look at it, and it seems pretty clean.

I am paying half of this and I am just letting him know what i have heard or know, maybe his facts arent straight, maybe mine arent.

I am just trying to get a feel for what people are thinking is going to happen to this truck from what i have told, if it will need major repairs and how much that will cost or will survive on minimum maintenance

no matter what you buy, you can get nailed with issues, I bought mine with 89k completely stock, tranny went 2 months later due to the overdrive pin.

If its used, there's always a risk. Not EVERYONE is out to get you, believe it or not there are some honest people out there. Definitely go through the vehicle and look for signs of wear and tear regardless, but if the price is right and it was well maintained, I don't see a problem buying an already lifted truck with big rubber.

If you plan on doing a lift and tires, then your going to put the extra wear and tear on it either way. And 35's shouldn't be a problem with stock gears.

I think you can do better mileage wise for $15k though...thats what I paid with 89k for my 04 Lariat with every possible option...

My '08 has 125K. Feels as tight and smooth as a 30K truck. Will be selling in a month or two.

The kbb on this truck stock is 18k with 128000, and it is a lariat with everything i need in it. The guy seems honest but I plan on thoroughly checking it out

Atikovi-Have you had any problems with it over the years? This owner says everything shifts smooth and feels good but ill have to see

It is a repo I just bought a few months ago to haul stuff around and then flip, but I haven't had any problems so far.

Crap shoot is pretty accurate, but youre doing the right thing by asking all these questions, just remember, you asked so you're not always going to get warm and fuzzy answers.

As far as the window regulators, i cant give you an honest answer. My family has a repair shop so i got the parts from the dealer with a discount and did the work myself. It wasnt a very hard repair though. The major areas of concern imo should be the motor and tranny though.

Its hard but you have to make a business decision and not an emotional one. Dont get stuck on one truck, there are thousands available out there and looking and researching will pay off in the end. Good luck

bought mine used with 38K on it. Its seen its share of repairs and now has 82K on the clock. My main issues used were the starter/flywheel grinded when I bought it...found out about 3 weeks after purchase when it started doing it....lasted 2 years then needed a new fly wheel.

I would go 06+ if I were you and its an option. The injectors on the 05 are ticking time bombs. Many members have experience with them sticking open and causing engine failure if not caught and handled appropriately. Warranty thru Ford is only 120K miles so you're potentially playing with fire if you have one stick on ya. The 06's should have the new injector if build later in the year (check the door tag)

I wouldn't trade my truck for a newer one though....except the interior
