WWYD...tonneau cover rubed paint off (pics)...repaint or lineX?

So this cover has been on the truck since 05 and I guess over the years has gotten loose and out of alignment and rubbed the paint off...bad in one spot and starting to on 2 other spots. This happened before I got the truck but I plan to get the cover freshened up and these spots fixed before rust takes over.

So what would you do...have the spots repainted or get the top edge of the bed linex'ed with the color added to make it DSG or light silver. I think if it was linex'ed it would have to come down 1/2" or so past where the covers sits closed in order to cover the damaged area completely. If you look at the last 2 pics...you can see what looks like a little bubble under the paint...you can see the same bubble in the pic with the cover closed. I am kinda leaning to the repaint idea...but the linex thing popped in my head too. Anyone done the linex thing?

Also to note I have a dual liner already so I am not looking to linex the bed.

Thoughts...

With it being that far down the side of the truck, I say repaint. If you line-x it, I think it would look bad going down that far.

I have this issue myself. I was told the whole side of the bed would need to be repainted. This is one of the many reasons I will never buy another A.R.E. tonneau cover.

The whole side? Seems excessive...seems like they could blend it in. I haven't gone to a paint shop yet to find out.
