Bad Fuel
Bad Fuel
Well this is kinda long, About 2 weeks ago I was on my way from Houston to Port Isabel TX, I was driving my 05 F-150, The truck has 138,000 miles on her and other than regular maintanance has never ever been back to the ford dealer since I bought her new. Really been a great truck.
Well I was about 75 miles from Port Isabel and I decided to fill up.
"What a Mistake"
I walked in to a stripes gas station and gave the lady a $100.00 for premium went put the gas in my tank and left.
I made it 3 maybe 4 miles and my truck started acting like it was running out of gas. I ended up stranded on the side of the highway in a town named Raymondville TX. after checking everything that I could with what I had, I had to call for a wrecker and had the truck towed to the closest Ford dealer. Rodreguiz Ford, I think that's how you spell it, I left my truck with the dealer and a co worker picked me up. I have been working down there on a bridge for the last month or so and I had my motorcycle with me.
I was lucky & did not have to rent a car. Well after a day the Ford dealer called and told me that the gas in my truck looked like Swamp water. They ended up having to replace my fuel pump, filter, flush the tank & lines, Clean the intake and everything else related to the fuel system you name it. It ended up taking a week. But the dealer was one of the best I have ever had to deal with, Great people.
To make a very long story short. I ended up having to spend almost $1800.00 on my truck counting the wrecker, and the fuel I lost and then had to replace.
I have filed a complaint with the station and they are working on getting their insurance to get my money back to me. It will probably take a while, I just hope I get it, The dealer filled out all of the proper paperwork to help me out, and the store's area MGR came and took pictures of the fuel, They shut down the premium pump at the station also.
The main thing for me though was that, My truck was not at fault, I have had that truck going on 7 years and it has never ever let me down. Not once since new did I ever need any warranty work or anything, I have done all my own work with the regular stuff like brakes and all.
But with this one I was not at home and did not have what I needed to fix it myself.
The Ford service writer & mechanics at the dealer were the best that I have ever had to deal with. If I ever need anything while in the area they will be where I would go.
Watch out for old Stripes gas stations & make sure you keep your recepts.

You did the right thing going to the dealer, cuts down on the he said/she said. You will probably get covered because it was verified by a pro (Ford Dealer).
We had a local Sam's club that the delivery guy put Diesel in the gas (in the ground), Sam's picked up the tab for any one that had engine/cat problems, they were real good about it.
Good luck.

I am hoping it all works out, That was a lot of money to put out,] for something that was not my fault, The lady at the station told me that I was the only guy to buy premium since the night before, And it was early in the morning when I was coming through that area.
I have never liked having to pay someone to work on my stuff, But like I said the folks at the dealer were some of the best I have ever met, I was lucky in that respect.
