MAF sensor cleaning - did I get it right?

Hey guys,

My truck was idling a bit rough at random times (06 5.4) so I phoned my mechanic and he said based on what I told him it was probably a dirty MAF sensor. I looked online and found a "How-To" article on it and followed the directions, but the pictures were not of the same engine as mine, still an F150 but not the same year probably. I Googled "06 F150 MAF sensor" and found a pic of it, but I just wanted to be sure I sprayed the right thing with electrical contact cleaner. Here's a pic, I unscrewed it from the driver's side of the intake near the back. The truck ran normally after that but it idles rough randomly so if I didn't clean the right part it still might not have done it in the 30 or so miles I put on since.

Any help is appreciated,

Thanks,
Ryan

That is the MAF, the correct part. You spray the little wire in the openning. Be sure you used a cleaner that leaves no residue. A cleaner for MAFs and electrical parts.

Yep, I used electrical contact cleaner, the stuff smelled like rubbing alcohol and left a nasty white fade on my intake duct.

Thanks for the confirmation!

do the tb too. just take those 4 post like bolts off and plop the air cleaner housing up. use throttle body cleaner for that since it has some kinda film on it. at 50k mine had a good amount of junk on it.
