Hard/rough start

(I did use the search button)

I'm having a issue with my 05 5.4l.When you go to start it in the morning(cold start) it stumbles and acts like it is starved of fuel.when it happens i turn the key back and then turn back to the on position, wait, then try it again. So i have been watching the way i start it.Like maybe i am turning the key too fast for the fuel pump and maybe that is why it's doing that.So what i do now is I turn the key to "ON" position and wait 10 seconds and then it starts fine.Maybe the FPDM? I don't think it's a battery issue.I need to do the fuel filter again.Any ideas would be helpful. Thanks

Did you find any threads about the extended fuel injector warranty on the 05's?

I have read the letter regarding the injector.Didnt seem like it to me but who knows.I thought the FPDM was a east coast issue with road salt and cold weather. Its been doing this for a couple of months.I will check it out when the wife get's home with it.

If you live by the ocean.....the salt air can corrode it also....there's some down in Florida having issues also...

See the first reply and look at the 07M08 sticky in the engine forum.

Mine does this from time to time when I get in a hurry to start it. So now I get in turn the key on put on my seatbelt then start. I also changed fuel filter the last time it was happening and it seemed to stop.

Thanks for all the Reply's.I checked the FDPM and it was dirty.Brushed it clean and the cross bar.I also read the sticky in the engine forum and it may sound like that.I plan on changing the fuel filter on Saturday. And then going from there. When i have the recall done i might have the fuel injector leak down test. Thanks for all your help.
