Anyone using 5W30 instead of 5W20? What brand are you using?

iv read that u only wanna use 5w20 because of the phasers and the tight tolerances in the motor

and for brand most use motorcraft synthetic blend or Mobil 1
and only motorcraft oil filters

He has a V6, 5w30 won't hurt it.

If you want to use 5w30, use Motorcraft. Ford specs it for the Ecoboost, so I'd bet that your "old" V-6 would love it.

I wonder why they did not spec 5W20?

It probably needs a bit heavier oil to keep the turbos happy.

i always use MC 5w20 synthetic blend and MC filters. No matter what. If the auto parts store doesnt have it, I go to another one until I find one that does. If Ford engineers who where paid the big bucks say thats what it needs, I'll use it until they say otherwise.

Don't forget, these are the same highly paid boneheads that blessed the two-piece plugs for the 5.4 (3v) also !!

I was running full synthetic but switched to synthetic blend 5W20 MC...always MC filter.

The stang I ran mobile 1 synthetic. Never had any issues with either of the oils.

haha, true. although if I remember correctly, they did change their recommendation of changing them every 100k miles to every 40k miles to prevent that being a problem.
