tow hook differences

I have an 05 FX4 and I am needing my tow hooks to sit a little further down because I modified my brush guard. My question is this. My 05 hooks sit tucked up to the frame pretty well, but I was walking past a newer model the other day, it had the round fog lights, and I noticed that it looked like the welded plate on the tow hooks extended down a little further than mine, and basically made the tow hook sit further down from the bumper. I know these were the stock hooks on this truck, but I'm wondering if the newer years, maybe 07 or 08, sit further away from the frame, or was I just imagining things. I'd like to know before I go buy some. Please help, this might solve my problem.

thanks,
Doug

I know the hooks on my old '04 were much thicker than my '06. As a matter of fact, I believe I removed the hooks on my '04 and swapped them out with the '06. I think the '06 had more of a radius to the hook as well. So maybe the thick/thin is what you've noticed? They did match up when I swapped.

I appreciate the response, but I'm pretty sure these on this truck were actually sitting further down from the frame because the base that welds to the hook had more arc to it, and I could see a whole lot more daylight through it than I can on mine. Mine are really thick, but they're pretty compact. Also, I called Ford yesterday, and they told me that the part numbers are different.

The 04 and 05 had the beefier mount bracket, the 06-08 have the diffrent mount.

I think your right. Now that I think about it they did line up mount wise, but the beefier '04 hooks did mount closer to the bottom of the bumper - less clearance than the '06. They did fit however.
