GPS Mounting locations in our trucks?

I figured this might be worthwhile for someone. I hate sticking the suction cup mounts to the glass, and have found that many don't stay on very well. Definitely wish I had the Garmin with the bean bag mount, but I got my Tomtom as a gift and I can't find a custom mount at a price I like.

A few weeks ago I got tired of it falling off the windshield at random intervals. So I started looking for somewhere better without going to a custom mount...

Turns out the suction cup and base wedge nicely into the vent above the 4wd switch. And before anyone asks, I have driven 5000 miles since then and it hasn't moved a bit.

It comes out easy and I can tuck the power cable in the gap between the console and the dash (if I was feeling really ambitious I would look for power behind the dash) and then plug into the rear seat 12v outlet.

This raises the question, has anyone found any better/unconventional ways of mounting their GPS, preferably at little or no cost?

looks good.

we had ours hard wired so no wires loose and it mounted it in the top tray of the dash. had it where we could remove it and put the mat back on when we got out of the truck. worked really well.

I put mine on a beanbag on the dash, right by the pillar.

This will also show you how to hardwire it
