Power Steering Leak - Help Needed

I'm new to the forum, but have browsed the forum a lot since owning my 2004 F150 FX4 truck.

I'm looking for some help to identify what needs to be replaced. I've started to notice a power steering fluid leak and today I was able to see where it was leaking from. As you can see in the picture below, highlighted with a green circle, it's leaking from the tubing manifold of the rack in pion.

Do I need a new rack in pion? I've heard about some white o-rings that tend to go bad, can that be replaced fairing easily? Meaning do I just unbolt the bolt holding the tubing manifold plate and replace them?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm tired of filling up my power steering fluid every few days.

Thanks!

JR

Easy fix, mine had the same leak. Ford uses ac orings, they arnt free.... I forget but say 20 bucks
There are three orings under there. Take the bolt out, replace them, tighten and check fluid level.

Thanks! I'll go by the dealer tomorrow and look into getting the o-rings. Hope that will be all that is needed. Tired of having to keep a box under my truck while parked in the driveway.

I was able to make the repair today. Went buy the dealer ship and got 2 o-rings. One was more plastic and the other was a normal rubber o-ring. Even though the picture shows 3 lines, the bolt only hold the plate and the top line. The bottom line is held in place with a sort of hook or half circle cut out from the plate. So when you remove the plate it can pivot up and off the bottom line.

Had to wait a bit for the power steering fluid to empty out from the line once I separated it from the rack in pinion. Removed the old o-ring from the top line and replaced it with the new one I purchased. The original o-ring was damaged on a small area, it was a lot thinner so I reckon that is where the leak was coming from.

I put everything back together, jacked up my front end so the tires were off the ground. Poured in some power steering fluid and started my truck. I let it run for a few minutes. Then I rotated the steering wheel right and left a few times, checking the fluid level after each cycle.

Everything seems fines, I went for a short test drive and no problems and best of all no leak either. A big thanks to City of Champs for helping me out!!!
