O/D Or No In City Driving - 5.4L ???

So what's the concensus ..... is it better for gas milage to use O/D or not when doing city [non-highway] driving? In my prior truck [GM 5.7L] I found a notable improvement in throttle response and a slight improvement in gas milage when I locked out O/D [left it in "3" in that case]. Curious to see thoughts on this. TIA

I always keep it out of OD if I'm going less than 45 mph for short distances with stop and go traffic. Not sure if it's better for gas mileage but I think it helps the transmission since it's not constantly downshifting/upshifting. Plus the TQ locks around 35mph so with it being locked the transmissions still staying cooler.

Exactly. I have done this for years.
