So im looking at an 05 f 150 with 67k for 8500$...the truck runs nice but its a little rusty for my liking... but i cant beat that price so i figure first things first im going to undercoat the frame after i good cleaning to clean up the rust and help prevent further oxidation
Also the power steering is almost not there anyone got any idea what could cause a week / choppy power steering?
Thats pretty much it besides a little bit of paint got on the passenger side of the car from driving on new lines but i figured a nice claying will take it out?
Anything in particular i should look for with these trucks?

Welcome aboard. I am rather new myself aand do like this site very much.

For the power steering, I'd check the obvious first. Worn belt,tesioner not doing its job, not to mention the fluid level. Did the previous owner mention any P.S issue..replacement? With only 67K miles, I wouldn't expect a P>S>unit going bad, but not impossible.

 

Being that its an '05 check the history of it to see if the injector problem has been taken care of. Have the plugs been changed? If not now is the time to do it, see if you can negotiate that into the deal. How does the tranny shift good or choppy? does it slip? may need to exchange the fluid. Does the rearend howl or clunk? Clutch packs might need replaced. Look at the universals in the drive shaft are they tight? greased? Front suspension components look good? Ball joints upper and lower worn at all? Look at the FPDM its right near the spare tire on top, might have to take down spare to see, does it have corosion on it? Many threads on this. If so it needs replaced. Does the engine run good? any bucking or hesitation? Check rear slider window if equipped, does it have crystalized build up? Or the headliner look different colors?, carpet on floor wet or smells bad? You might have to grease and reseal the third brake light. Fuel filter and other basic things changed on it? Thats all I can come up with now, this should get you to think a little. BUT hopefully not to much Let me know if you have any other concerns.
