What is this?

Picked up a used 2006 FX4 yesterday and I'm clueless as to what this device on the driver's side is. Haven't unscrewed it yet to check the back, just wondering if you guys had any ideas. Not pushing any buttons on it till I know what it does...

Is there a kill switch on the truck? Thats my best guess... Kinda confusing bc the stock plug just plugs right into it..hmmm

Backside says Karr Security Systems. Their website mentions tracking and kill switches...

Sounds like it needs to go. Does that plug go back in somewhere or is it normally loose?

I think its just loose. I was up under my dash to adjust shift indicator and I am pretty sure thats the same one just floating up inside there. The man who owned my truck before me had a remote start and I could see where he had wired plug-in connectors to that set of wires. Just unplug it and see what happens. If everything goes haywire just plug it back in.

I think my truck had this same device at one time. There are two holes where it used to be it drove me crazy trying to figure out what it was, my best guess was trailer brakes but that didn't seem right either. I still wonder why they took it off to leave two nice little holes in my dash.

I've seen one on a truck I detailed once. It looked identical. Needless to say if you ever have it go off from touching it on accident like I did. Instead of listening to the horn for ten minutes just try locking and unlocking the doors with the key fob.
