07 powrer steering pump problems
hey all i am new to the forum and need help with a problem im having. i have replaced my ps pump 2 times now and i am having the same problem with both pumps. problem is that when the truck is sitting still or barely rolling i have no ps. i replaced the first pump thinking it was a faulty pump but now the second is doing the same. i do not have any leaks or air. am i way off line here or do i need to try one more pump? any feedback is appreciated.
i recently bought the truck and the ps worked fine to begin with then the pump started leaking after perlacing the pump then the mentioned problem started. could this still be rack and pinnion problems?
Yes the original pump may have not been getting up to pressure and caused some premature seal wear with the rack.
Does it do it worse when the truck and ps fluid is cold and improve once it gets warm?
When the new pump was installed was it bleed to make sure no air entered the rack?

The most typical problem with PS in these trucks is the shaft binding, followed by bad pump, leaky lines, or bad rack and pinion.

Just want to say that I discovered this little trick (sprayed WD-40 all over the steering shaft u-joints) It immediately make a HUGE difference ... felt like a new truck! This is the cheapest, fastest fix for a severe problem that I have ever seen !!
