i saw you say it,it just dosent make sense to me why they would cause noise under acceleration. the clicking has nothing to do with turning, only under acceleration.

i had a shop weld up an exhaust leak today and check balljoints/tie rods, ect, and he said all was well.

im beginning to think cv axle or iwe making noise.

Another possibility is that it's the slip yoke on the driveshaft. It is a known problem but Ford says there is nothing to worry about and it does no damage. Some have pulled out the yoke and regreased it and had it go away. Mine does it occasionally and it is always after a stop and then accelerating. But to me it sounds more under my feet and not from the front.

the best way i can think of to describe it, is that it sounds like the ac compressor clutch grabbing. sometimes when i start the truck with the compressor, after a few seconds the ac compressor will kick on decently hard, and that's what it sounds like. this noise happens with the hvac system off though.

how can i check and see if the slip yoke is doing it? its in the rear drive shaft right? can i grab it and try to replicate the sound? anyone got good links on how to grease it?

Look at this thread. It has the TSB number in it. https://www.f150online.com/forums/20...oke-clunk.html Some report the noise on stopping but it can be there on take off too.

I don't think it sounds at all like a compressor clutch grabbing so this is probably not your issue.

its a faint pop. not like a bad clunk, or a metal to metal sound. i imagine a u joint sound would be a clunk.

ive read on it some, is the only way to test it to try to turn the drive shaft and move it back and fowards by hand? the slip yoke is in the rear shaft right?

Just replied to an old post with an update. I really thought something had broken or was bout to break such as a ball joint or something in the rack and pinion. I had to lock up the breaks last week on the freeway and I swear I felt the front end move on the drivers side. Whether or not this was the case or that the road was uneven, her is what resolved my issue.
Turns out the bolts on the lower control arm were not torqued down and also one on the strut.
Check yer' bolts

i was wondering about those big control arm bolts. i did put a leveling kit on this truck. i might go get under there and tighten the frick out of everything. and torque my lug nuts. im going to listen to that video, and maybe that will be my knock
