Question Spare tire cable lowering trouble!

Well, as I was cranking down the spare tire cable to install a spare tire, (no spare tire was attached to it from the previous owner), it went down about half way, & then it then started to go back up towards the belly of the truck. I was only cranking counter clockwise the whole time, so does anybody have any idea what I'm dealing with here. Now the cable does'nt come down at all after it went back up to the trucks belly, & it's very hard to crank. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Probably got a kink in it from not having any weight on it and rolled back up. Get under there and pull on it while someone cranks and see if it will unspool.

Or maybe the cable broke and got shortened. Maybe thats why there was no spare?

I removed mine and disassembled it. Cleaned it up and got it working. I n fact I just lowered it yesterday. The trick to these is to keep some weight on it.

Try to turn it clockwise now with someone's help to pull on the cable also......
Then when it gets to the point of where its stuck(whatever the problem is ) keep having the other person put pressure on the cable. Then start to turn it counter clockwise again...

If not R+R it.....
