Anyone ever negotiate your byback ?
Anyone ever negotiate your byback ?
I always change my truck out every 3 years and lease a new one been going it for 20 years but I am not sold on the new body style and have so many toys on my 2008 and very low milage so Im going to buy this one back and drive it a while.
I am curious if anyone has ever negotiated a better deal with Ford Credit on their by back ? With the new body style out and 2008 really going cheap used here in Canada I was hoping to do better than my byback a bit ? I figured by the time Ford took it back, had it inspected, the trucking fees and probably it going to auction they might deal a bit on it ?
Am I dreaming or does this happen ?

Not sure if they do,but you would think they would consider it. I leased a 05 Ranger and took it back in 08. The buyout was 14K and the dealer put it on the lot for 11K,and they may have taken less.
It will depend entirely on if there is any benefit for Ford Credit. I bought my truck out from a family member, in Ontario, and the dealership would have paid them more than I paid for the buyout. If they can make money on it, don't count on them negotiating. The trucks that were purchased in 08 here seemed to have had low buyouts, because they got screwed when the 04/05's came off lease when the market bottomed out.
I haven't been able to negotiate on a buyout - was told it couldn't be done at least at the dealer I was using. They ended up either auctioning or giving "back" to Ford, and never put them on the used lot.
I too bought out my '06 explorer, didn't make sense to re-lease for the $ they wanted and it had been a great running truck with low miles so numbers wise it worked out. I did spring for a premium care 100k warranty. I also bought a new '08 at about the same time, leases became very unattractive after doing them for 20 years.
