anyone else seen allot of junk in their trans pan when changing the filter?
Ya I want to do a transmission fluid replacement I bought my trucked used with no service records in the glove box. Im sure the ford dealership has the records it he took it in right?
By the way if he said he replaced a leaking axle seal does that mean they replaced the differential fluid?

probably.
i have no idea the motocraft part number, i just use proking filter and gasket kits from advance. fk266 i believe.
so do these transes get build up in them faster becuase they shift slow? anyone run a gryphon or edge for 30k and had a cleaner magnet because of it?
also, a word of caution, i did my transfer case at 60k, the interval on that is 60k if you offroad allot, and i dont really offroad allot, but my fluid in there was nasty. if you have never changed your transfer case fluid and your north of 60k i would defiantly do it. 2 quarts of dex3/merc is all it takes. and the t case skid on fx4s and equipped lariats will make it drip out of most of those holes in the bottom of it

My dealer I refuse to go to for Tranny service... they won't drop the pan, just flush it. Heck it's a contract with an outside company too. Screw that
Found a Transmission shop one town over I'll be checking out shortly

I've got about 74000 on my truck now and had the tranny fluid exchange done last year around 65000. I probably need to change the transfer case fluid as well. I have found several post that say its fairly easy but none that describe where the fill and drain holes are?
the fill and drain holes are easy to find, the transfer case is behind the trans in the center of the truck, it has a big window motor lookin thing on it. the drain and fill holes are right there, thats the back of the t case. pull the fill plug first, then the drain, so if the fill is stuck you wont drain the fluid out and then be left with no fluid in there. only takes about 2 quarts of dex3/merc trans fluid

anyone changed their filter and fluid after using a gryphon or edge programmer? im wondering how i can cut down on the amount of clutch material i have hanging out. most transes i do arent as bad as mines been.
does anyone install factory tech separator plates ? i know of that one guy that has the 8 foot bed truck that did that, is a tuner sufficient to get the trans shifting correctly and not tearing up clutches?

I have Amsoil on order and new tans filter sitting next to me. I just ordered a Magnefine inline filter and will be doing a fluid exchange myself in a week. Ive been running a Gryphon for the past year and half on Tune 1 Tow so I'll let you know how it looks when I do the job.
Yes, I used Level 2 performance for about 4-5 months and then switched to tow since.
