2005 need help

Hi all... want to get opinions on what this sound may be. Dealer did tranny work...ever since then, I have had this noise when cutting the truck off. Thing is, it only does it when the truck/tranny has NOT had time to warm up. It will do it every time while its cold..but once you run it about 10 min. (driving around) it will stop. Like I said...only when I cut the truck off. Everything operates fine. The Dealer is saying that it sounds like Torque converter and that had nothing to do with the work they did. And they are now quoting me $1,100. Yea, well it is strange that this noise started after the tranny work. Ideas???

If the dealer did any tyranny work that involved removing the tranny then they had to take the torque converter out. If they did any internal tyranny work they most def took out the converter so maybe something happened to it while it was out on the bench or something. If I were u I'd demand that they fix it for free its a little odd that it didn't do that before the trans work that's just bs if u ask me. Good luck

Also its possible one or some of the nuts on the studs that attach the converter to the flywheel are not fully tightened or came loose causing some play and hearing a noise once the engine stops thus the flywheel obviously stops along with the converter...its possible just an idea

Yes, I find it very fishy. I told the service manager that I want them to drop the tranny and visually inspect to make sure nothing is loose, and everything is put together properly. He told me that the torque converter is the only thing in rotation that could possibly be making that noise. I said..well take a look at the torque converter...he said, its a sealed part, there is no looking at the inside of it. So I was like...basically you are telling me that I either do nothing, or replace the torque converter and just hope that fixes the problem. He then said that he wants to hear the noise in person. See by the time I had driven to the dealer..the truck was warm, and wouldn't duplicate the sound. The tech and service manager have seen the video though. I feel like it is their responsibility to make sure this sound isn't from something they did when working on the tranny. Is that too much to ask? I will find out what they are going to do tomorrow morning. I was sooo wishing it was something simple...like something sticking out too far, that just needed to be tightened up..

Tell them ur leaving the truck there overnight and go there in the am with the tech and service advisor that performed the work so they can hear the exact noise...if indeed its coming from the granny it most def should be on them to fix it that wouldn't make sense especially since they just did tranny work ...that's what I would do

And yes the torque converter is a sealed and non serviceable part. If they told u that the converter is the only thing in a trans that rotates their flat out idiots unless he was saying when ur not driving just idling at a stop...
