So I was thinking of adding this to my truck because I think it is a nice feature to have. I looked on Tasca and came up with kit. It looks like all I need is the 4 sensors and brackets and the module. Is that all I will need? Is my truck going to have all the wiring pre-run and it will just be a plug and play? I also realize that I will have to cut the holes in my bumper. I have an 08 FX4 scab with luxury package (I was surprised that it wasn't installed from the factory with the luxury parkage). I was also thinking of looking around local junk yards to find some wrecks with them. Can I use any year? And other models like F250s, F350s, Explorer, ect.? Here is the link i found on Tasca.

I'd be real surprised if it's plug and play. You could inspect your wiring harness under the tailgate and see if you can spot the connectors for the sensors. There is also an override button in the cab for when you have the tailgate down or towing a trailer.

 

Here's my take:
First off, I have them and have grown to depend on them. When I first got my truck, I thought they were "overkill" and I really didn't want them, but they were included. Since the first day till now, especially since my truck is lifted, those sensors are money in the bank.

NOW...my buddy has a new Dodge Ram with the reverse camera and THAT thing is pretty cool! I really want one of those! Search around and find either the OEM tailgate camera in the handle or the one in the rear Ford emblem. For a screen, you can go with an aftermarket stereo, or the EDGE CTS (I believe). Anyway, the reverse sensors are good to have, but I think the camera is the way to go.
