A question about sanding FX4 flares

I bought a set of FX4 flares off a member here late last year and I'm getting ready to sand them smooth and ptm. What's the best grit paper for this job? I also bought a pair of handle buckets off ebay for 10 bucks that I'm going to sand and paint also. I'll definitely post some before and after pics....any suggestions on the paper?

Whatever it takes to knock down the texture...just make sure you finish with a very fine paper, like 1200.

I would start with something around 400+600 to get them smooth. Its going to take awhile to get them down

Like shibby mentioned finish it off with about 1000-1500 grit and wet sand with some dish detergent like dawn to get a smooth finish.
