Hi i have a 2006 f150 5.4. when i put it in 4 wheel the light comes on but it isnt actually in. when i try to move it makes a clicking noise for quite a while then it will finally go in then 9 out of ten times it will make a loud bang and come out of 4 wheel. after a few minutes of this it will finally stay in. ive tried putting it in park, reverse, neutral nothing makes a difference. If i try and engage it while moving it does the same thing. it really makes me think something is breaking and id like to fix it before something does break. any help would be greatly appreciated.

BTW, It's probably the solenoid on your firewall that went bad and is causing many of your problems.
