Tried putting LED 3157 for headlight.... PROBLEMS

I ordered these amber led's for my turn bulbs up front
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2-24-...ht_4932wt_1167

and I plugged 1 in, first off it doesnt even fit in the housing -___-. Thats another story.

But as I plugged it in and went to turn it on to test, i think it shorted and wasnt working. I also tried plugging in the light the other way but didnt help either.

I took it out and plugged my normal ones in and then took out fuse 2 and put it back in and the turn signal works.

BUT: the actual light doesnt work for both sides. The Highs and low beams for the actual headlight works. And I got the turn signals to work but like i said it doesnt actually stay on.

If I wanted to run these led's im guessing i would need to put in a resistor which i dont even want to go through that hassle.

For $2 they won't have been bright anyway. I Bought these. http://www.v-leds.com/Exterior-LED/P...viewsTabAnchor

Love them, and I replaced the flasher with an electronic one to avoid the fast flash.

Wow $60.........

But anyway Im trying to restore at least my original lights to working order. I pulled out the fuses that had any role with the headlight/DRL's. And they all looked fine and I put them back in. Idk....

'Wow' nothing - ya get what ya pay fer - after the obligatory markup fer the 'cachet' of LEDs, of course

It's a nite & day difference - literally - and when it comes to safe, visible vehicle lighting ....

Crap $2 Leds belong on ricers - along with 30,000k HID's

The only thing that could have really happened is a fuse blew. You will have to check your fuse with a meter, or just swap it with a new one.

what do u mean it doesnt stay on?

when you turn on the trucks headlights do the parking lamps(the orange) and the headlights come on?

with the headlights off now, when you turn on the turn signal do the parking lamps/turn signals flash as they should?

As in when I turn on the trucks headlights, the parking lamps (orange) do not turn on, but the headlights (low/high) work. And even the the parking lamps TURN SIGNAL works.

And also yes with al the lights off, the turn signals can be activated and work.

page 226 in owners manual, cab fuse box, fuse #6, 15A.

fuse #6 runs parklamps, BSM, instrument panel illumination.

im guessing this is the one u blew.

good luck, let us know if it works.

On a side note, how come these led's didnt actually turn on? But I got the blinker to work in hyperflash?

What makes the V-LEDs 92m-smt any different??

Do i need to put in a stronger fuse or what?

to be honest i dont know. LEDs require so little current to work you usually end up needing to put a resistor in make it all function correctly.

you obviously had good contact to make the flash work so thats not ur problem.

maybe u blew the fuse putting it in and it never had power to begin with, but the turn signal had a good fuse.

knowing you have a good fuse now and it works you could try it again.

and not to rub it in, but u do get what u pay for.

No i replaced the correct fuse and tried it again and it blew it again when i tried turning it on. The signal will hyperflash but once i turn on the light it goes out.

Anway... I threw them away. Lesson learned lol.

What I always remember is that whatever price I'm paying for a product has to include material, manufacturing, labor, and mark up costs. If it's an insanely low price...not much went into making it.

Ya, I decided I really wanted the amber 92 led so i ended up ordering them just now haha. Can we also change that light on the sides of the headlamp?

The 194 Sidemarker bulbs. Do we need to take off the clear plastic headlight cover to replace it?
