Catalytic Converter Bank One Bad

Check Engine Light came on this morning so I dropped the truck off at my local mechanic. Just called and told me the Catalytic Converter in bank one is bad. Let me know that it is still under warranty until 88k miles. So I will be dropping it off at the dealership tomorrow.

Anything I should know before I take it in?

If you have the 5.4 3v then have the dealership check your injectors....
Bad injectors can foul a cat....

This is only if you have the 5.4 3v.....

Yeah I know all about it too well. Ford replaced my engine under warranty at 23k miles cause of a stuck injector. Bent a rod.

I bet the cat problem you have now is related to the hydrolock.

I would almost guarantee your bad cat is related to your injector. Mine did the same thing but didnt blow the block. My bank 1 cat failed about a day after the injector was fixed though. #7 injector was the culprit for me.

And the government only warranties cats for 80K miles, do you have an extended warranty? If not I would relate it back to the injector and make the dealership prove that was not the cause of the pre mature failure.

And there is nothing you have to worry about before taking it in. They will just cut it out and weld in a new one. Shouldn't take longer than 2-3 hours depending on how busy they are.
