Another Plug Change Thread!

I don't have the time or the tools to change my own plugs, so I took it to my mechanic. The truck is just under 62K, so I had him do the 60,000 tune-up and plugs at the same time.

Dropped it off last Friday so he would have time to let the plugs soak.....but it turns out he didn't have enough time to do it. I was pretty worried after hearing the horror stories, but he called me a few minutes ago and said it was all done---NO PLUGS BROKE! So glad I got it taken care of early. He said this is the first truck that he's done where none have broken.

Great news...I too have about ~62k and am hopeful I have no breakages either. What replacement plugs did you go with?

Did mine right at 62k. No problems whatsoever.

Congrats Matt... Glad to hear they came out okay.

If you don't mind me asking what did it end up costing you to get done. I'm at 72k and need to get mine done

He replaced the stockers with Champion Double Platinum plugs.

Well, he did the 60K tune-up, as well. The bill has the tune-up listed at $140 with the plugs at $136 ($17ea) and the boots at $73 ($9ea). So $350 for the plug change and 60K tune-up.

$350 doesn't really sound to bad to have them done... I've heard of a lot more

Yeah we'll see. It was pretty much a last-minute "get it in there" deal, so I didn't have time to go buy my own or order them online. He said those were easy to obtain and they wouldn't break on the next change.

Have you had a bad experience with them? Or just stories from others?

I'm not too worried, as most people on here post about trouble with the plugs breaking. I got out of that without issues, so as long as the maintenance is kept up there shouldn't be any problems. Most people run into issues when they neglect routine maintenance.

Yeah he's always been good to us, which was a big reason I took them to him. My new job is only one town away, so I'll be able to stick with him for a while to come.

Lucky you, I have 53k and broke 7 out of 8. Feels good to have it done doesn't it!

I waited until 100k, bad idea. I wish my experience was anything close to yours.

I too put in Champions. Problem free after their first 15k so far.
