Air flow selector ****

Question:

This morning I tried to set the selector **** to defrost and it stayed on the vents blowing air in your face. I then tried all the different positions and it did not change.

I called the local dealership and they said bring it in. On the way there it started working correctly.

They recently replaced the blend door actuator motor, could this be the same problem again. (recently like 3 months ago).

I have an 2008 with the manual ac/heater setup.

Thanks!

I have a 2008 and I encountered the same problem about a month ago. The temperatures had gone from somewhat warm and rainy to very cold overnight. I had hot air blowing out of the a/c vents in the dash the next morning when it was in the mid-20s. After about 10 minutes trying different manual settings, as I have the EATC, it started working normal again. It hasn't happened since. I replaced the blend door actuator motor last winter. I know it doesn't answer your question, but it might just be an intermittent malfunction.

Maybe !!!

Windsor:

Might be something there !!!

The experience you described with your truck are almost identical to mine.

Yesterday it was 62-64 degrees and raining all day until about 5:30 pm and then a cold front moved through here lowering the temperature to 31 degrees.

I also had warm air blowing from the dash vents and just wonder if that had something to do with that.

Thanks for your reply.

Might want to try to lube the linkage for the actual motor to doors. It is located right above the gas pedal and I believe the track is white. Mine creaked, popped, and got stuck in defrost when I bought it. It drove me nuts! Get the slickest stuff (I believe after many attempts, I think I went with axle grease. WD40 and stuff like that didn't help mine) and lube it up! I haven't had it get stuck or make a noise for atleast 8 months now. This would only work if your problem isn't electrical.
Hope this helps!

Took the truck to Asheboro Ford this morning. Yesterday evening I tried selecting different mode positions (i.e. Floor, Vent, Defrost) and I started hearing a really load thunk sound. I left it on Vent (Panel) and on the high fan setting it just doesn't feel like the air is coming out as forceful as it used to.

I'll post what the dealership finds ...

just received a call from the service manager guy; he wants me to bring it back in the morning so they could start work on it. I asked what part they were planning on ordering and he said the mode actuator motor.

I dropped it off with them this morning and he said he had been going out to the truck all day and it had not exhibited any of the symptoms I had brought it there for until just about 4pm. and it finally did it for him.
