help, low running rpm's
help, low running rpm's
yesterday my truck doesn't start. even with a jump it took a bit, had to give it some gas. with the new battery in, coming home from work today it dies on the last corner before my house. says "check gauges". so i take it for a drive around the block the rpm's drop down to 250 around corners. driving at 50 i let the foot off the gas and see the rpm's drop to 500. fuel pump problem?

Look up the following...
How to clean your MAF.
How to change your fuel filter.
How to clean your TB.
Read them and do them then your truck should run right again....
took the thing into ford. didn't want to tackle the fuel filter it's -25 c and i don't have a scissor tool. $55 for a carwash later, they say there's nothing wrong with my truck, not very reassuring. yeah i'll turn a corner and the thing will stall and get smoked by a vehicle. it does drop to 500 rpm when i slow right down. i think i'll clean the MAF and TB myself.
wouldn't their diagnostic machine of picked up the failing alt. with a fluctuating amperage. I've driven 100+ km's since. no issues, just noticing it drops to 500 rpms around corners. is that normal? just a safety concern is all.
Whats your voltage at idle reading? Both times for me I put my diagnostic tool on the truck and no codes ever showed. Another thing would be to loosen the fan belt and check all the idler bearings and make sure everything is spinning freely. I had to replace a few idler pulleys on mine at 75K, they are relatively cheap and easy to swap out. Just something to look into.
