Finally towed the TT with my truck.
Finally towed the TT with my truck.
So my dad got admitted into the hospital this morning to get his triple bypass surgery performed in the morning and since the hospital is 60miles away from where we live my wife and I decided too pull our travel trailer over there and rent a lot at an R.V park for a few day's to keep from having to drive back and forth over there. Well this drive involves flat interstate driving for about 25 miles then turns into some fairly tall hills the rest of the way and too add even more strain too my truck we had wind gusts blowing around the 30mph range today from a storm that was on it's way. As far as pulling the trailer went the truck performed great. The reese weight distribution hitch and anti sway bars performed great. My truck was straining pretty bad though from the wind hitting the front of my trailer. I was able to pull the trailer at 60mph with the overdrive off. As for fuel mileage I didn't do any calculations but after the day was over we had driven 110 miles and my truck is on a half tank, not all of those miles were with the trailer attached. I can't complain about the truck considering all the weight it was pulling, wind and hills. My truck is bone stock right down to the exhaust and i'm running 33" tires with the 3.55 gears. We had the trailer loaded with all of the stuff we needed for the trip my dad, mom, wife,me and my daughter inside the truck. The trailer is a 29' fleetwood pioneer with an empty weight around 7,500lbs.

I don't have any pics of the trailer and truck hooked up yet but I'll get some posted when I pull the trailer back home.
Yea it done pretty damn good. I must say i'm proud of the truck. It never flinched the whole way and hardly ever had to drop into second gear while pulling. I used the hills in my favor by gaining speed on the way down and letting the momentum from the weight help push the truck up the other side. Some people force the truck to pull the weight all the time but if you drive right you can let the weight of the trailer help push the truck sometimes. I did have too step down on the pedal pretty hard cause of the idiots driving around me. This is the first time I have ever pulled a trailer of this size on the interstate and now see the hell truck drivers go thru on the highway's.
