Hey guys- I have searched on here through pages of threads and can't find the answer. What is the difference between the OEM tailgate camera vs the emblem camera? Seems the part numbers are the same excpet the suffix's are AA and AC. Will the emblem camera fit into the handle - or do they have different mounts. I just bought an HD 06 f-150 and I am going with the handle-cam install into a Kenwood receiver. I will post all the parts/pics once I get that far.

 

the emblem camera is not oem i dont think. in 08 you could get a back up camera from the factory, its the tailgate handle kind. the handle itself from ford is less than 50 bucks, but the camera setup back there is like over 300, ive heard of people getting universal video cameras that are the size of the hole and wiring them up.

one day ill have a kenwood dnx 6960, and ill probably get the tailgate bazel with it, and then wire in some sort of universal camera.

cant overlook edge performance too, they sell one that mounts to the liscence plate and looks pretty solid.

 

The emblem camera setup IS OEM, but not until 2009+. The 08's used the tailgate camera.
