Carfax question

Whatup yall? Its about that time. I have to get rid of my 02 F150 XL for, well, another one.

Having a child and a regular cab isn't gonna cut it anymore. I have an '04 STX lined up, suicide door style. If purchased i'd be transitioning from an XL to the STX, so many similarities, and the STX has 4x4. My question is about the carfax. Relatively clean but raising an eyebrow...

It has 3 previous owners. First owner owned it for 11K miles. No issues. 2nd owner, no issues, owned for ~2.5 yrs. 3rd owner owned for about 2-2.5~ years and had 2 insurance claims.

1. Drivetrain serviced.
2. Electrical serviced.

I immediately think the worst, like transmission issue or physical electrical cabling, but it could be as minor as a gasket replacement or alternator, who knows at this point; I'm hoping records will be available. Any insight?

I don't think I'll be modding this one at all, but what are the 'known' issues with the 4.6L 04 style? I know they ran lean with an aftermarket intake (or was that 5.4L). Any others to take note of?

Being my first 4x4, any tricks during the test drive that might reveal any issues with the system?

Trade on this thing is about 11-12. They are askin 13.9K. I feel its very fair compared to most pricing ive seen on 4x4's with extended. Has 73K miles.

Thanks fellaz.

If you are worried, get an extended warranty. Not from a dealer. Go through a credit union or bank for it. 13.9 for a 2004 STX 4x4 might be a little high. i paid 17.5 for a 2006 STX 4x4 with 27k a year ago.

I'll have to look into that. These things are a hot commidity being in New england right now...the 4x4's are through the roof so im sure this is working against me.

I've yet to see anything close resembling 17.5 for a 4x4 with 27K on it and thats any brand.
