Thumbs up Plugs done! Fantastic Dealership Service Dept

About a month or so ago I posted in here asking if anyone knew of a dealership near El Paso, Texas that knew what they were doing when it came to a plug change. After calling around, I decided that of all the dealerships I talked to, Shamaley Ford seemed like their service department was the most knowledgeable. They also had what seemed like a fair deal to me, $350 for a tune up including plugs and $85 per broken plug, up to a maximum of four. Even though it could be over $700 if four plugs broke they were still cheaper than almost anyone else around here I talked to. The service advisor I talked to, Joe Candelaria, knew right away what I was talking about when I said 3V Plug Change... most of the other places I talked to seemed relatively clueless. He also made sure to note on the sheet that the service guys shouldn't flash the truck because I have some custom programs from PHP.

Anyway, today was the big day. Overall it took about four hours and they got them ALL out without breaking any. On top of that, the total charge with tax was $310.10... $40 LESS than they originally quoted me for just the tune up.

They were complete professionals from start to finish, were very friendly, and obviously know their stuff. With so many reports out there of 'stealerships', I thought I'd give kudos to one of the good guys.

Nice job and good service. There are some good service departments out there, like where I go, Bankston Ford in Burleson, Texas.

Fletcher Ford here in Joplin is also one of the good guys. They do 3V plug changes for $260 including 1 or 2 broken plug extractions. Any more than that are billed at actual clock time at $80 an hour.

Maybe we should start a thread about good plug change dealerships.

I was quoted $1085 for plug & cop change and they said they would keep the truck over night be cause they would have to hook it up to a decarbon machine or something.
The were shown the middle finger
Looks to me you got a deal

It would be a good idea to have a "recommended dealers" sticky.

H&S Automotive in Hagerstown Maryland did an awesome job on my plugs. $309 out the door with one breakage. Even gave me a great deal on my diff and transfer case service.

Great Info!!

Thanks for the info Duskrider. I bought my truck at Casa but will definitely take it to Shamaley after reading your post.......I'm sure you know that Borman was never in the mix

That's because they charge $80 a piece for COPs, which really only need to be replaced if it' bad.

Definitely better. There's more pickup and responsiveness now. It's almost like an incremental step: Stock -> Tuner -> Custom Tune -> New Plugs. lol

I've got 68K on her.

No Doubt! They were the first ones I called and therefore the first ones I ruled out. Almost $600 for the change and $100+ per broken plug? No thanks. "Less Cruces" my pudgy white butt.
