Starting Issue, Starter, Battery?

Sometimes when I go to start my truck, it will turn over slowly and then drain the battery to where it wont start and just get the click from the solenoid.. etc..
I can then hook a battery charger up for only a minute or two and it will then crank with no problem. I have a small battery charger without instant start.
I can drive the truck around town and start it most of the times.. And then other times it will go back to the slow turn over and then not start.
This is random and charging doesn't seem to change how random it is. Meaning I can drive it for long periods of time and then the next day it might or might not start.
Also, I only drive 4miles to work, and most of the time if it starts in the morning and I can get to work.. It will start at lunch or when I go home.
Today, I got to work, not using head lamps and then at lunch it went into the slow turn over and then no crank. So, I'll need a jump to go home.

This started with the old battery, so I changed it out 2months ago. and now this battery is doing the same thing.

Does this sounds like a Batt. or Starter/solenoid or other issue.
Battery terminals are clean and tight.

Have you checked the volts? maybe your alternator is taking a dump, both parts can be tested at your home.

It could even be the alt. Take the cable from the alt. to the battery off and then touch it to the post on the alt. that you just took it off of. The alt. has hot to it all the time, but if you have a HEALTHY spark when you touch it, somethings not right with the alt. You can have internal problems with an alternator that drains the battery even if the alternator is charging.

I have around 14.5 when running.
I also monitored voltage w/edge while running under different driving and it stayed between 14.3 to 14.6 depending on the conditions WOT or normal running.

I read that one guy had a problem with his Gryphon draining the battery.
Is this an issue that some people have?
I unplugged it, to see if that could be part of the issue. But it could take a few days to see if that is the issue or not.

The latest Mods, that I installed where the Edge and 55w HID's.
I guess with that much draw and only driving 15min to work in the dark. And having the Edge plugged in overnight could be the issue.. Just not enough charge time?

Sometimes the edge will not boot, I just get a blank screen with backlighting.. wonder if it is in some kinda of mode and when I key off it turns the lights off.. but still sucking on the Batts..?

Guess I'll dig for Edge issues.. Anyone know of any? I bought it used from a member on here.. Guess I should email.. to see if it drained his batts..

Even though the battery is new, get it load tested.

I had the Batt. tested and it was bad.
I guess you could get a Bad Batt from the get go.. guess its not unheard of..
Now I'm going to go through and try to find if I have any extra current draw during key-off.
I have done a few Mods:
Mods Prior to 2010:
- 7inch Radio/GPS with 2 amps.. Doubt its and issue, since it was install years ago.
- LED Tails and 3rd Brake.. Not an issue.

New Mods in 2010.

- Blue Led Door Switches and Dash and Cluster lights, doubt this is the problem. Didn't realize that the Door switches are powered all the time during key-on until I installed Super bright Blues.. Can anyone confirm that standard switch lights are on at key-on..

- Reverse Camera, doubt this is the problem. Power is connected to Reverse lamps. So the camera is not powered until in reverse.

- 55W HID Heads. Doubt this is the problem. Relay to battery only to supply Relay contacts. So the relay is not powered until the Lights are on.

- 55W Fogs, Doubt this is the problem. No relay, direct power from normal circuit with Bambi Mod..
Also disabled the external lamp feature.

- Edge Programmer.. Possible problem.. Bought it used on here. Seems to be the last mod done prior to problem starting.

Or I could have just been unlucky with the old batt going bad.. and just purchasing another bad one..

Guess I'll find out once I start doing current draw on my Acc's.

Weather the programmer is new or used it still will draw while in a standby mode.....best way to combat that problem is to unplug it, if the truck is sitting for prolong periods of time.....
