Saleen Door Panels Installed..
Saleen Door Panels Installed..
I really hated the look of the wood trim on my Lariat, so I decided to give it a little change. I really like the black piano look on the HD models but removing the whole dash wasnt something I was looking forward to doing anytime soon.
I went ahead an ordered a set of the Saleen door trim panels and had them painted along with the trim bezel around the radio.
Now for the removal and install: The OE trim has a small tab that locks the handle parts in place and keeps them from moving . There are also a few tabs that are melted to the door panel itself to also keep them from going anywhere. In order to remove them, I used a drill to break off the melted tabs, Once those are removed, the other two tabs can be removed with ease.
The front doors have two trim panels. The lower trim has only one locking tab. So to avoid them from rattling or coming loose, I used some epoxy on some of the tabs where the factory had them originally melted.
The door handle trim, does not need the epoxy as it has two locking tabs instead of just one like the lower trim It is also held by two screws that hold the handle in place. You shouldnt have an issue with those..

heres what it looked like before.

And here is what it looks like now.. I forgot to get a pic of the center bezel installed.

That faux wood is the reason I went with the FX4 package vs. the Lariat. I cant stand faux wood, just screams outdated. The FX4 package had the faux carbon fiber look.

The Saleen panels are better than the ROUSH ones....the Saleen pieces are actual replacements; the ROUSH ones are stuck on with 3m tape to the original.
This is true, the Roush pieces are stuck on with 3M tape.
