Gas mileage

I know I know, you have a truck, etc. But, my gas mileage seems to be getting worse?

I have a 2005 F150 Supercrew 4x2, 5.4, 3.55 LS.. I have 20x9 wheels, 305/50R20 tires, also have true dual magnaflow with an X pipe.. I consistently get 11-13 regardless how I drive, speed, interstate or city.. I know people with F150's with bigger lifts, bigger tires, 4x4, etc.. That get like 13-16.. Is this common? I am planning on getting a Gryphon, but is their something I'm missing? Gas mileage on my truck has been bad since the start. Thanks guys

I get 17.5 average on my stockers and am thinking about jumping up in wheel/tire size. I'm trying not to think about taking it in the pants on the gas mileage afterwards but then I keep seeing threads like this pop up.

You may want to try....

Cleaning the TB
Cleaning the MAF
Changing the fuel filter
Check your tire air pressure.

You may be also experiencing a loss to winter blend fuel.....

A programmer is fun to have but its a crap shoot when trying to use it to improve your mpgs especially on gas vehicles....

These trucks are about as aerodynamic as a brick.....

Yeah, I've been wanting to change the fuel filter just haven't found time. I need to get an oil change/rotate/balance soon. May get them to change that out while it's there.

They reflashed the computer on mine back in 2005 for a transmission issue and I actually lost 2 mpg. Maybe a reflash would help yours.

I wouldn't mind it but the Ford here is a stealership. Might call one somewhere else And ask.

The twenties must add some ungodly weight. But, my truck has honestly never gotten above 15, even brand new from the factory.

I agree.....

Mine with stock 20's and 3.73 gears and 4x4 only has seen 16-17 mpgs a couple of times....other than that summer is 14-15 and winter is 11-13....

I had been getting 16 avg until recently. I don't know if my truck really hates winter blend this year or what, but once it got cold, I lost 3 mpg. Previous couple of years it was only a 1 mpg drop when winter gas came out.

I'm thinking your mileage problems may have more to do with your driving style than the truck itself. Heavy foot does a lot to wreck your mileage. Especially if you have had this "problem" since day 1.

I drive my truck like a grandma.

That's the thing, I've gone as far as to accelerate no higher than 1800RPM and not even cross that 2000RPM mark and I still got like 12.
