Red face Changing spark plugs and flush tranny

Ok I have got my Motorcraft plugs in and tomorrow i'm going to go get my antiseize and carb cleaner. What my question is is if I order the Lisle 65600 will that have all teh tools to remove a possible broken plug? I read on the TSB about some pins and stuff to glue into the porcelain and that just sounds like something totally different. Also I have always used Conoco fuel at a reputable station so I figure i'm good there, but what would be a good thing to run through it to maybe clean it out some more? Seafoam, or maybe something else? Also how would you use it?

Also after I get my plugs changed i'm going to have my tranny serviced. Should I just get the whole thing "flushed" by the dealer for around 65 or go ahead and drop the pan, change filter, and flush for around 200? I don't tow just have bigger tires and want it to be in the best possible shape. I didnt know if the extra money needed to be spent.

So with all that said what are your alls reccomendations? Thanks, Brent

If the dealer will do a complete fluid exchange for 65 bucks, jump on that. However, I bet that's just for a pan drop.

No they actually didn't want to drop the pan. That was more as they said they didn't normally do that. They reccomendedo just flush it, but I didn't know how important the filter was.

Do not FLUSH it - get a "fluid exchange". There's a difference.

Using Chevron Techron fuel system cleaner in the gas tank before the plug change seems to help....

Okay. On the tsb do you know what all that other pin stuff is and where it glues it into the porcelain? I think the lisle tool may push the porcelain down but I just want to be double sure.

You definitely want to stick with the Lisle and forget the pin and glue system. Yes, you push the porcelain down with the Lisle.

Okay thats the answer I was looking for. Thanks bluejay. I just didn't know since that's what the tsb said.. Heck maybe I wasnt looking at the latest one and I thought I was.

Does anyone know if any kind of carb cleaner should work or if I could just get the cheap stuff at o reileys and also does it matter if I use copper or nickel antiseize? All my oreileys carries is copper..

And should I get the flush and then next time get the filter change? Thanks!

Any good carb cleaner should work. No, you were looking at the latest TSB, it's just that Ford only recognized using their tool. The Lisle has proven much better and is far cheaper. You must use the nickel antiseize, due to the high heat capabilities.

On the tranny, that is what I would suggest.

Alright sounds good. So you think that if I were to run that techron fuel system cleaner through my pickup would I have to completely drain this tank of gas or could I just put it in and drive it? Also I'm at the store and it says it only treats 12 gallons. Does that mean I should get two since I have around 28 gallons or so in my tank right now?

Personally, I doubt that it will do much at this point, just burning it through the gas. Did you see the thread where the member used BG and an impact?

Here is the link, in case you missed it. I think it will take something like this or Seafoam to make a difference on the plugs, at this point. My problem is that I don't like using anything like that on my engine. I'm old school about that kind of thing. I would rather soak the plugs and take my chances with the Lisle tool, if one breaks.
