tapping into high beam help
the switch has 3 poles. atleast the one in the hella kit does.
so if i tap into the high beam wire behind the headlight, that should be a small fuse correct because theres no load on it, its just the signal wire?
so were agreeing that the green wire separate from the realy harness is the signal wire that you tap into the highbeams with?

just following the wiring directions, its quite clear. The switch needs 3 wires connected to it (If youre going to use it).
1. 12v trigger from high beam
2. connected to pin 86 of the relay
3. ground.

well i mean mainly how to join them. the ground wires on the lights are kinda short. i think im gonna cut some out of the middle of the power wire to the lights cause its like 20 feet long, and use it to extend my ground wire to the one near the battery on the fender apron. i got wire conduit and shrink wrap, so im gonna solder everything together. the green wire that i didnt know what it went to has a 2 amp fuse in it, so im gonna use that between the high beam wire and the switch , then run the yellow signal wire from the relay to the switch. i think i finally got it. avoiding butt connectors. gonna try to do it tonight. i wont have any problem butting the two light grounds together to one wire then grounding it right?
going now to look up how to solder online. im gonna get my cb, and these lights, all soldered up and wire loomed, and my dealer i got this truck from put in one of those damn third brake light blink 3 time things, they left me no wire, so im gonna yank all that **** out of there and solder that.
totally different matter. the dealer cut the wire for the 3rd brake light and added a thing to make it blink 3 times when you hit the brakes and i took it out, they left very little wire.
just stating that im gonna have to do allot of soldering one day to get it all right. i think i understand the driving light wiring though, as long as im right in assuming that the yellow trigger wire goes from the relay to the switch then that green wire goes from the switch to the high beam wire. and thats as easy as finding the wire that has power when the hgih beams are on.

Does the relay mount have to be grounded or just ground its ground wire. I wanna mount it next to the box on the firewall but that's a ground strap will it mess it up if its stacked relay ground wire for relay then factory ground strap going from outside in?
You can stack as many ground wires as you want, just make sure the connection is clean, use a wire brush or sandpaper if there's any rust, corrosion, or just dirt.
An iffy ground can make things do very strange stuff, and can be hard to track down.
The relay mount is probably plastic, isn't it? If not, you may have to make sure it's got bare metal to mount to.

thats what i thought, i could have sworn i saw some relays that were grounded through the mounting bolt but i was pretty certain thats not this one.
any problem with stacking it relay on ground wire, on ground strap to truck?
