"HOW TO" Install Factory Running Boards

Well I tried to put this in the How To Section, but It wouldn't let me post to it. Maybe a moderator can place it there??

Anyways, I want to put up a How to on installing factory running boards for Scab trucks! I don't really think that it would be much different if you were to do this on a Screw.

The things you will need:
3/8" Ratchet
1/2" Socket
3" Extension
Running board Set (boards, brackets and bolts)

Board Set:

This is the bolt set that is supplied:

Start off my making sure that all the clips are in where they are supposed to be. The brackets utilize a set of 4 holes that are already there from the factory. They are located on the pinch weld of the frame.

The clips on my truck were already there, so I didn't have to buy any.

Take the bolt and start threading them into the clips. Tighten them gradually!! As you would a lug nuts on your rims.

Once tight this is what it will look like:

Do this for all 4 brackets. There is 2 on both sides. 1 behind the front tire, and the second is just before the cab ends. (there is another set of 4 holes under the door crease, between the big door and small; but don't use this set)

Once all brackets are on the truck you are ready for the boards.
The bottom of my boards looked like this: It had a set of 3 inserts on both ends. I don't know why, you will only use 2 on the ends.

Lay the boards on top of the brackets, and thread the bolts into the inserts. You will have to offset the bolts, they are made this way. And once again, you will only use 2 of the 3 inserts on the board. I don't know why the 3rd is there..

Tighten them down. Once again, gradually do both of them. Tighten one a little, then the other, ect.

Then WALLA! Your done, and you have a set of running boards on your truck!!

Before:

After:

I chose to do this on a day that was about 25 Degrees outside with the wind blowing at like 20mph. It was pretty chilly. If you choose to do this, take some gloves with you! lol. I couldn't find my work gloves. It sucked..

I was able to get this done in about 30 mins or so.

Enjoy!!
