I think the FPDM backorders have all been filled now.

I couldn't believe it. I called a couple of different dealers and the one said he had 30 of them in stock 2 months ago and they're all gone! It appears they will once again go on backorder. The other dealer said he had one but it was just the module itself without the standoffs. I took it and made my own out off stainless steel hardware. No difference in the way it's running but it hasn't stalled out yet. Thank you guys for the knowledgable insight. I'll be sure to pay it forward. I'll post if it acts up but I have to imagine that this module had something to do with my car not working!

Yeah, I'd say that is a problem. Think I'll check mine when I get a chance.

So the truck is certainly running better but something still feels a bit off. It seems when I come to a stop, the RPM's drop dangerously low (300-400). This also happens when I rev the engine in park. The needle goes up and then drops way down. The needle then bounces a bit between 300-700 and then evens out. It doesn't stall but I do notice when they do drop, the headlights seem to dim quite a bit. Any ideas??

The Fuel pump driver is somthing I havn't tried yet. I've been dealing with this problem for YEARS now. I've learned to kind of deal with it. I can tell when it's about to stall. I'll drop it into neutral and restart the truck and all is fine for a little while. If I let it, it would stall out every single time I drive it. The problem went from being a once a month thing, to once a week, and now it's daily. Seems even worse when it's warm out.

I've changed plugs, fuel filter. Cleaned throttle body and MAF. Replaced throttle body and TPS. None of that seemed to make any difference.

The only code it ever throws is a code saying that it went into failsafe mode. This is pulling codes with a Xcal, not a scantool or dealer scanner.

Nope... the module is an electronic control. The fuel does not go through it.

Plus dirt is heavier than gas... so if there was dirt in the tank it would get sucked up whether the tank was full or empty.

Last I checked, water is denser than gasoline. So IF there was water in the tank it would get pumped into the fuel line with a full tank just as quickly as an empty tank.

... an empty tank won't hurt the fuel filter.

A few years ago my truck did the same thing you're describing. Reread MeatWagons post in this thread. I cleaned my MAF and butterfly valve on the throttle body and haven't had any trouble since. The backside of the butterfly valve was very dirty w/ a lot of carbon built up on it. The MAF cleaner and a rag wiped the gummed up carbon off pretty easily. It was a quick, easy and cheap fix.
