got a code today: P0128

P0128 Coolant Thermostat (Coolant Temperature Below Thermostat Regulating Temperature)

got this on the way to work today. it was 19 degrees outside. what does this mean? anything to worry about or check besides antifreeze level? it seems like its hard to get the truck up to normal operating temps unless im climbing hills or have a load on the motor (im talking about the 1/4 way mark)? not sure what thermostat is in the truck.

Indicates that the thermostat monitor has not achieved the required engine operating temperature within a specified amount of time after starting the engine.

possible causes -
Insufficient warm up time
Low engine coolant level
Leaking or stuck open thermostat
Malfunctioning ECT sensor
Malfunctioning CHT sensor

Try replacing the thermostat first...then if that dont work attack the sensors...

OEM or a Stant, use the OEM temperature.
