Oils?

Hey guys, I am going to be changing my oil for the first time by myself this week. I was wondering what oil you guys use in you 5.4's? I haven't really researched which brand I should choose, was hoping you guys could give some insight. Thanks

Motor craft 5W-20 semi blend as per ford manual specs with m/c filter.
7 quarts in the 5.4L (on my 06 anyway).

That is all I have used and still runs great, uses no oil between changes at 4000 miles. What more could I ask?

Motorcraft 5W-20 semi-synthetic (blend) ($12-15 for 5 qts at Walmart) per the Maintenance Manual with a Motorcraft FL-820S filter ($3-5 at Walmart).

7 quarts in the 5.4L (on my 09 anyway).

No oil usage and great UOAs at 7500 miles.

just stick with the motocraft fl820s filter and 5-20 syn blend branded oil and filter. they recommend you run it for 5k.

you can spend the money on mobil one and a better filter but really its not nessicary. i couldnt bring myself to run oil for more than 5k anyways.

do it at an even numbered mileage. i do mine at 50k, 55k, 60k, ect.

You can use any quality 5W20 and quality filter. However, the Motorcraft oil and filter is the most cost-effective.

To the original poster: This is a question that is constantly asked here - don't be personally offended if people get a bit short with you. If you use the search function, you will probably find 1000 threads all asking the same thing.
