painting bullbar

I have a westin chrome bull bar and would really like to paint it black. I was wondering if there was anyone else who had done this. I have painted chrome before but didn't know if I should get it powder-coated instead. Would love any advice or insight. Thanks ahead of time.

I've tried to paint chrome before, but I didn't have much luck. It chipped off. I recently sent my chrome westin step bars off to have them powder coated.

There are some threads on painting chrome on this site though. I searched through them before deciding to go with powder coating.

I will be painting mine this summer...search for a thread "Black Chrome" and you will find pictures of someone who used a duplicolor kit I believe specifically for this.

I did use black chrome on my badges. It's actually Duplicolor Shadow. However it doesn't really end up looking black. It's more of a gun metal finish. At least it was in my application.

Sandblast it and paint it with bed liner stuff or get it Line-X'ed.
