Color Matched (PTM) Ford Ovals

I just recently got my truck back from the body shop (deer accident). I had the whole truck repainted and mono-toned with ptm bumpers and everything blacked out. (06 screw fx4) I noticed the other day that my blue ford oval on the tail gate sticks out like a sore thumb and the "clear coat" on the emblem is starting to peel anyway. Is there a way I can paint the background black to match my truck and keep the ford and the little chrome lines around the oval chrome? I've tried searching and haven't really found any good info and i know patriot decals doesn't make the oval overlays anymore and i really don't think i'm talented enough to tape off clean lines...any ideas?

you could go to the same body shop and have it done. I taped mine off with ease, it just took some time. I covered the whole thing in tape, and since the chrome pieces are raised up, I just used an exacto on the edges and peeled the tape off when done.

Another option is to get some of the nightshades spray-tint and tint the emblems darker. It will make the blue much more subdued and give it sort-of a blacked-out look.
