Super easy Gotts mod - and maybe a hair better

This is a picture of my Gotts mod. I used the Spectre Performance 8741 flexible hose and a 3" x 3" female/female adapter bought at home depot for $6.99. The female adapter has rubber on the inside and an adjustable metal outside with adjustable clamps. The 8741 fits directly into the hole in the fender and the 3x3 female/female adapter fits between the stock intake and the 8741. Super easy. The reason why I say it is a little better is 3 x 3 adapter goes on the outside of the intake so there is no space taken away from the inside of the intake with the PVC adapter. (Yes, it is a small amount). Anyway, super easy. No cutting. You need an 8 mm socket and a 10 mm socket. That's it. I am very slow and it took me 15 minutes. Besides the yellow sticker on the adapter, I think it is a very clean look.

I haven't noticed a difference but I haven't towed anything yet. I suspect the mod only shows itself under hard acceleration or towing up a big hill. Next week, I will attempt to put on Bilstein HDs. I hope the shocks are this simple.

Sorry for the delay. The part is made by Fernco. The part number is Proflex 3005-33. I purchased it at Home Depot and yes, I did reset my computer.

Let me know how the installation goes.

sorry if this is a dumb question, but why would you need to reset the computer, or disconnect the battery?

The Gotts mod changes the airflow through the intake. Resetting the PCM will allow it to learn and account for the new airflow.

You disconnect the battery and turn on the lights for about 30 minutes to reset the PCM.

I disconnected the battery for 30 minutes. I have never heard about turning on the lights for 30 minutes after reconnecting it. I assume you don't have to turn on the lights right after you disconnect the battery.

Honestly I searched (just to make sure) how to do it and got that explanation from another respectable member here, moderator Bluejay.

No, you don't turn the lights on after reconnecting the battery - you disconnect the battery and then turn the lights on. Turn the lights off, then reconnect the battery.

With that said, you don't need to turn the lights on, and you don't need to leave it disconnected for 30 minutes. All you have to do is pull the correct PCM fuse to dump the computer - and that won't even kill your radio presets like disconnecting the battery will do.

That works too. More than one way to skin a cat.
